Sixty Five kilometers long Batura Glacier is the second longest glacier after Siachen.Most of the trek is an easy stroll along the Batura Glacier walking through the flowers and green patches. The only difficult part to negotiate is the crossing of the glacier. On the trek we have an opportunity to meet with nomadic Wakhi people who graze their cattle in green meadows and pastures. You may find several yaks while trekking as they usually move to higher areas during summer season.

ITINERARY

    Day 01 Arrival in Pakistan

    Welcome in Pakistan at Islamabad and transfer to hotel. In the afternoon we will make a city sightseeing tour Rawalpindi and Islamabad, which offers a great contrast of culture, archaeology and planning. Rawalpindi is an old city with narrow lanes and bustling bazaars while Islamabad is a modern and the only planned city of Pakistan serving as the capital of the state. Raja Bazaar, Murree Road, Lok Virsa Museum and Shah Faisal Mosque are the places of tourist interest included in the tour.

    Day 02 Islamabad - Chilas

    We depart from Islamabad and arrive at Besham crossing the famous towns of Abbottabad and Mansehra. Later on ffollowing the upstream course of River Indus, we will make photo stops at Shatial rocks with ancient graffiti's on it. After a long day aboard, we arrive at Chilas and transfer to hotel for overnight.

    Day 03 Chilas - Gulmit

    Some interesting carvings can be seen on the rocks at Chilas, even from the window of your vehicle and next to Chilas is the Nanga Parbat viewpoint offering breathtaking views. The next stop will be at the unique point where three mountain ranges, Karakoram, Himalayas and Hindu Kush meet, near the confluence of Indus and Gilgit Rivers. We bye passes the Gilgit Town and continue our drive on KKH. En route, we cross several villages of Hunza & Nagar valleys and make a photo stop at Rakaposhi view point. Driving past Karimabad, we go straight to Gulmit, a quite and serene village in upper Hunza region and stay for overnight.

    Day 04 Gulmit - Excursion Khunjerab Pass

    Today we will make an excursion to the Sino-Pak border at Khunjerab, crossing the villages of Passu and Sost en route. Khunjerab is the highest point on KKH at 4734 meters and considered as the highest trade route in the world. In the evening we will return to Gulmit.

    Day 05 Gulmit - Borit Lake - Passughar

    We will drive by jeeps to Borit Lake to start trekking and cross a dry ridge of Passu Glacier to arrive at Passughar.

    Day 06 Passughar - Luzdhar

    We will cross the Passu glacier with our experienced guide and arrive at Luzdhar across the glacier which is a deserted shepherd settlement and pastures.

    Day 07 Luzdhar - Patundas

    After a steep but moderate grade climb, we cross the ridge between Passu and Batura glaciers. A trek leads to the base camp of Passu Peak from here. We arrive at Patundas for overnight stay in tents.

    Day 08 Patundas - Mulunghil

    This is a steep descent to Mulunghil on Batura Glacier; however the scenery en route is superb and rewarding which compensates the hardships of the route.

    Day 09 Mulunghil - Yashprit

    Today we will cross the Batura glacier and this traverse is quite demanding. Our campsite is Yashprit which means a pasture of horses. Yashprit offers spectacular views of Batura Glacier lying down the valley.

    Day 10 Yashprit - Kukhil

    Following the shepherd's trail, we reach at Putmahal or Fatimahil later proceed to Kukhil, a small summer settlement with a few huts of shepherds.

    Day 11 Kukhil - Guchisham

    Guchisham, the last summer settlement of Batura Glacier has several shepherds' huts. A walk to lateral moraine to find superb views of Batura and Passu massifs is rewarding.

    Day 12 Guchisham - Day Free

    Today, we will enjoy a free day at Guchisham for photography and to enjoy the beauty of surrounding peaks. An optional walk to Lupdor through flower filled path is recommended.

    Day 13 Guchisham - Putmahal

    We start our return trek and retracing the footmarks, we arrive at Putmahal for overnight stay.

    Day 14 Putmahal - Yunzbin

    Crossing Yokprit ( meaning a yak pasture ) we trek to Yunzbin. It is a green and cool place before descending to KKH.

    Day 15 Yunzbin - KKH - Karimabad ( Hunza Valley )

    Walk down to KKH and mount on the vehicles for Karimabad, the capital of Hunza Valley. Rest of the day is free to take shower and enjoy the beauty of surrounding mountains.

    Day 16 Karimabad - Sightseeing

    Ultar, Hunza Dome, Bublimating, Spantik and Diran are famous peaks surrounds us at Karimabad, while Rakaposhi at 7788m dominates the whole panorama. At Karimabad, we visit Baltit Fort Museum and Altit Fort. Rest of the day is free for walking around villages and famous terraced fields of Hunza.

    Day 17 Karimabad - Gilgit

    We will drive back to Gilgit, where we enjoy a free time to explore bazaar and town. Gilgit River flowing through the town offers superb views and walk along its banks is rewarding.

    Day 18 Gilgit - Besham

    Return journey on KKH to Chilas, the place at the foot of Nanga Parbat, where hundreds of rocks are found with inscriptions, writings and drawings of old times. We will make a photo stop at Chilas and Shatial Rocks and continue driving to Besham for overnight stay.

    Day 19 Besham - Islamabad

    Making an early departure for Islamabad, we arrive at Taxila, the famous capital of Buddhists. At Taxila, we will visit Jaulian Monastery and Archaeological Museum and resume drive to Islamabad for overnight. At Islamabad, evening is free for packing and individual's activities.

    Day 20 Departure

    Our staff will provide transfer and assistance at departure and say bon voyage for your onwards journey.
